Urban Climate Agenda

for the Brazilian Municipal Elections

EN

Welcome!

The Urban Climate Agenda is an initiative that outlines guidelines for climate action in the urban context, based on the strategic pillars of health, employment and mobility.

Designed by civil society organizations and other institutions, the agenda is a result of a collective process, gathering a heterogeneous group involved in subnational initiatives across the Brazilian territory.

Based on experiences and expertise in working with governmental and non-governmental actors, organizations and institutions signatories of the Urban Climate Agenda recognize the central role of cities in increasing climate ambition.

We believe it is imperative to strengthen resilience and adapt Brazilian cities to climate change, promoting low-carbon urban development with social justice. The role of public authorities and policymakers must be complemented and shared with civil society, academia, private sector and all social segments.
